Month...6? Reviewing Old Resolutions

September was chaos incarnate. School started. Coworkers scattered across time zones. I closed on a house—which involved signing my name so many times that I started turning O's into P's. Which is exactly how I graduated preschool. The second time around, anyway.

So, I made an executive decision: no new resolutions. My plate was full. Actually, my plate had fallen on the floor.

But September is over, and in the spirit of professors who schedule their hardest exams for the Monday after Thanksgiving break, I'm inflicting the same cruelty upon myself: reviewing all my resolutions at once. I always knew I had a sadistic streak.

Apparently, the human brain can only keep seven things in short term memory at once, which is a design flaw if you ask me, but nobody did. While certain habits have stuck to my daily routine like plastic wrap that's folded onto itself instead of the bowl, I can't always remember which specific resolution spawned them. Seven slots, five resolutions, and yet somehow, I've still lost track.

Time for a proper inventory.

Here are the seven things I've been working on over the past months. Sorry, five. Definitely five things:

1.     Decluttering physical, mental, and schedule spaces

2.    Improving health habits through rest, exercise, and food

3.    Practicing positivity and self-control with words and idle talk

4.    Further embracing femininity

5.    Making Jesus my first love

Some of these have succeeded beyond expectation - mostly because I've been cherry-picking the ones that turned out to be easiest or most effective. Others have faded into the mist like a thought you had while falling asleep that seemed profound at the time.

Time to take my own medicine and actually read what I've been writing these past five months. Accountability is a dish best served cold.

To yourself.

While everyone else is having dessert.
